North Dakota Man Thwarts Strangler’s Attack

A 23-year-old Casselton man found himself confronted in his own driveway by a much larger 50-year-old man. When the younger man stepped out of his vehicle, the older man grabbed him and placed him in a stranglehold. Fearing for his life, he drew a pistol and fired on his assailant, killing him. Though the victim was initially arrested for murder, the prosecuting attorney reviewed the case and declined prosecution after seeing that the younger man met the requirements for self-defense.
